Guernsey Cyber Security Centre – Strengthening Cyber Resilience Across the Bailiwick
In recent weeks we’ve explored some of the key issues shaping today’s cyber threat landscape. What remains clear is that the threats facing organisations are becoming increasingly complex, interconnected and difficult to contain and one thing is certain: geography offers no protection from any of them. Small island communities are not immune to the global threat landscape and often face additional vulnerabilities and challenges of their own.
The launch of the Guernsey Cyber Security Centre marks a significant milestone for the Bailiwick. Established to help prepare, protect and defend Guernsey against cyber threats, supporting organisations, critical infrastructure and islanders alike, GCSC represents a vital capability for the Bailiwick and one that we are incredibly proud to have helped bring to life.
Through our longstanding partnership with the Jersey Cyber Security Centre, and years spent working with organisations and leaders across Jersey, we know that cyber resilience is about far more than preventing incidents. It relies on planning, exercising, effective communication and practised decision-making; the capabilities that help communities respond with confidence, recover and strengthen resilience across our economy and community.
Looking ahead
The launch of the Guernsey Cyber Security Centre represents far more than the creation of a new cyber capability. It creates an opportunity to strengthen cyber resilience across the entire Bailiwick by giving organisations, businesses and islanders access to the knowledge, support and networks they need to navigate an increasingly complex threat landscape.
Just as importantly, it provides an opportunity for cyber resilience to become embedded across the community, helping to shape future services and initiatives around the real needs of local organisations and strengthening collaboration across sectors.
Ultimately, the ambition is not simply to respond to cyber threats more effectively, but to position Guernsey as a leading example of cyber preparedness, cyber engagement and cyber resilience.
Over the coming months, together with the Guernsey Cyber Security Centre, we’ll be engaging with representatives from across this community, including financial services, legal services, digital and technology businesses, hospitality, retail, charities, education, healthcare, government, critical infrastructure providers and community organisations.
